Ash Celtic was formed in 1976.
The aim was to allow local young people from Wavertree and Picton to play football on a Sunday.
The club was formed by John Large & Alby Heywood.
Alby Heywood has been involved with the club throughout it's existence, and is now the president of the club, over the years he has had the roles of secretary, treasurer & of course manager of many, many teams, for one spell in the 1980's he ran the club single handed managing two teams which both won their respective leagues. He is locally known as
"Mr. Ash Celtic"
The club has been based in Wavertrees at the Harthill Youth Club for over 30 years.
We now have 11 teams ranging from under 7's to under 15's.
Over the years we have been very successful on the playing front, winning many trophies, and we are renowned and well respected throughout Liverpool junior leagues. We have also had many players who have gone on to play professional football. In the past years we have taken our boys teams away to play in European football tournaments. We have visited France, Belgium, Germany, Holland and Ireland and had great success with the boys enjoying the experience immensely.
In 2005 we attained Charter Standard Club Status. To receive this award you need to demonstrate that you are well organised and have the correct procedures in place to work with juniors.
2007 saw the birth of the Ash Celtic mini soccer Festival, Last years Festival (2012) proved to be a great success with many compliments being returned to the club from the teams involved.
2010 brought Ash Celtic it's 1st Champions league win when the U12's ( now U15's ) proved themselves to be the best team in Merseyside, a feat thay repeted twice more, to become the first ever team to do the Champs hat trick. This ranks high on the Clubs impressive list of honours.
